Schneider Electric has not confirmed an acquisition of PTC. Reuters reported on October 4, 2026, that the Financial Times, citing people familiar with the matter, said Schneider was nearing a deal to buy the US software company for about $20 billion. Reuters said it could not immediately verify the FT report; its account described discussions as ongoing and said there was no certainty they would produce a deal.
Is Schneider Electric buying PTC?
There is no confirmed transaction in the cited reporting. The claim comes from a Financial Times report relayed by Reuters, not an announcement from either company. Reuters said it could not immediately verify the report, and its account noted that Schneider Electric and PTC had not immediately responded to requests for comment outside regular business hours. How much could Schneider pay for PTC?

Reuters separately cited LSEG data putting PTC’s market value at $15.63 billion. Market value is not the same as a potential acquisition price, so the two figures should not be treated as interchangeable.
When could a deal be announced?
Reuters said the deal could be announced as soon as Monday, October 5, 2026. That was a reported possibility, not a confirmed timetable. The same account said discussions were continuing and there was no certainty they would result in a transaction.

What is confirmed about PTC’s recent transactions?
PTC disclosed a separate transaction in an SEC filing: on March 13, 2026, it sold its Kepware and ThingWorx businesses to an entity controlled by TPG-affiliated investment funds. The filing reported total consideration of $530.8 million, with up to $125 million in contingent consideration possible under certain circumstances. That completed business sale is distinct from the reported Schneider Electric discussions.
