The India-market Redmi Note 15 5G is the larger, lighter option, with a higher-resolution main-camera spec, a bigger stated battery and microSD expansion. The Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G lists optical image stabilisation (OIS) on its main camera and faster 67W charging. Which is the better buy depends on your priorities and the live price for the same storage configuration; there is no dependable, fixed price gap.
This comparison is specifically between the Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G and the India-market Redmi Note 15 5G. Redmi Note 15 models can differ by region and connectivity, so these specifications should not be applied to a 4G variant.

What the differences mean in everyday use
Screen size and handling
The Note 15 5G’s screen is 0.10 inches larger, while both models list AMOLED panels with refresh rates up to 120Hz. Their listed resolutions are close. The Note 15 is slightly taller but slimmer and 9g lighter according to Xiaomi’s dimensions, so its larger display does not come with a heavier listed body.
Camera resolution versus stabilisation
The Note 15 5G lists a 108MP main camera, while the Note 12 Pro 5G lists a 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera with OIS. OIS is a specific stabilisation feature; a higher megapixel count alone does not establish that a camera takes better photos. The specifications do not settle which phone produces better images in daylight, indoors or at night. The Note 12 Pro also lists a 2MP macro camera; the Note 15 specification lists two rear cameras rather than three.

Battery capacity and charging
Xiaomi gives the Note 15 5G the larger typical battery capacity: 5,520mAh versus 5,000mAh. The Note 12 Pro 5G has the higher rated charging speed, 67W versus 45W. Capacity and wattage do not, by themselves, tell you how long either phone lasts or how quickly it charges in ordinary use.
Storage and SIM trade-off
The Note 15 5G’s India listing includes microSD expansion up to 1TB, but its card arrangement is hybrid with a SIM. If you rely on two SIMs, check the slot arrangement and decide whether expandable storage is worth the trade-off. The listed Note 12 Pro 5G configurations include a 6GB/128GB option that does not appear in the Note 15 5G India listing.

Software, support and network checks
The software versions shown on the specification pages are not a guarantee of what a phone currently ships with or has after updates. Xiaomi’s Note 12 Pro page states two years of software updates and four years of security updates, but that statement does not establish how much support remains now. Check the current software version and support status for the exact model before buying.
Check that the phone’s supported 5G bands match your carrier and country. Xiaomi’s Note 15 5G page lists bands for the India model; do not assume those bands apply to another regional variant. Xiaomi’s IP65 and IP66 claims for the Note 15 5G are qualified by specified laboratory conditions. These ratings do not mean the phone is waterproof.

Price difference: compare like for like
There is no stable price difference to quote. On October 4, 2026, 91mobiles displayed ₹25,599 for the Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G and ₹28,999 for the Redmi Note 15, a ₹3,400 difference in that page’s snapshot. Its visible price line does not establish that the phones were the same RAM and storage configuration or that those were checkout prices. Smartprix also displayed ₹25,599 and ₹28,999 as lowest-price figures and said its details were last updated September 17, 2026. These are comparison-site snapshots, not guaranteed offers. - Use the resulting checkout prices—not an old launch price or a comparison-site headline—to decide whether the Note 15’s listed advantages justify its current premium.
Which phone should you choose?
Choose the Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G if
- You want a main camera that explicitly lists OIS.
- You value its higher rated 67W charging more than the Note 15’s larger stated battery.
- You find it materially cheaper than the Note 15 5G for a configuration and condition you are comfortable buying.
Choose the Redmi Note 15 5G if
- You prefer a larger display in a lighter, slimmer listed body.
- You value the larger typical battery capacity and microSD expansion.
- You want the newer India-market model and its listed 108MP main-camera specification, without treating that resolution as proof of better photos.
This is a specification-based comparison, not a hands-on test. If the prices are close, decide using the features you will actually use—especially OIS, charging, storage expansion, size and local 5G compatibility—rather than the model number or megapixel count alone.
