The Razer Pro Type Ultra is a full-size wireless mechanical keyboard for people who want light linear switches, multi-device connectivity and a wrist rest. Its Yellow switches are designed to be quiet, but “quiet” is relative: an independent 2026 assessment reported metallic ping, and the linear switches provide no tactile bump. It is best suited to typists who prefer a smooth, light keypress over tactile feedback.
What you get with the Razer Pro Type Ultra
The Pro Type Ultra combines a full-size layout with white backlighting, programmable keys, a cushioned wrist rest and three ways to connect: USB-C, Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz wireless. Razer describes it as an office and productivity keyboard, with sound-dampening foam and a soft-touch, fingerprint-resistant keycap coating. Those material, comfort and durability descriptions are manufacturer claims, not independent test results. Razer’s product page lists the current features and FAQ.
Razer rates the switches for up to 80 million keystrokes. That is a manufacturer durability rating, not a guarantee of how long an individual keyboard will last. Razer announced the rating with the keyboard’s 2021 launch.
How does it feel to type?
Light linear Yellow switches
The keyboard uses Razer Yellow linear mechanical switches. They move without a tactile bump, so a keypress feels smooth rather than providing a distinct physical cue at actuation. RTINGS describes the switches as light and quiet, while noting the lack of tactile feedback and the fact that this model offers only one switch type. If you prefer a tactile bump, this is a poor match unless you are comfortable adapting to linear switches. The single switch option also means you cannot choose a different feel when buying this model.
How “silent” is it?
Razer markets the keyboard as silent and includes sound-dampening foam, but that should not be read as a promise of silence. Tom’s Guide’s 2026 roundup criticizes metallic ping and questions the quiet-office positioning; it also praises the included wrist rest and raises concerns about the ABS keycaps’ feel and the price. Connections and software
The keyboard supports wired USB-C, Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz wireless through Razer’s Productivity Dongle. Razer advertises control of up to four devices: three Bluetooth profiles plus the dongle connection. Use Fn + 1, Fn + 2 or Fn + 3 to switch among the Bluetooth profiles. Razer says the dongle is stored underneath the keyboard and can pair one keyboard and one mouse; the Pro Click Mini is a named compatible mouse. The keyboard can also be used while charging over USB-C.
Basic keyboard use does not require additional software. Synapse 3 is needed for configuration options such as remapping or programming keys, macros, lighting and brightness adjustments, and pairing devices to the Productivity Dongle. Razer documents these features on its product page and FAQ.

Battery life: the lighting makes a big difference
Razer’s launch announcement gives estimated maximum runtimes, with backlighting off, of up to 214 hours over Bluetooth and up to 207 hours over 2.4 GHz. With the backlight at full brightness, Razer estimates up to about 13 hours. These are manufacturer estimates from the 2021 announcement, not independent real-world measurements; actual runtime depends on use and settings. Which keyboard is better for your needs?
There is no universal winner among the Pro Type Ultra, Razer Pro Type, Logitech MX Mechanical, Keychron K10 and Logitech MX Keys. RTINGS compares these models, which differ in switch feel, form factor, lighting, receiver options and emphasis on office or gaming use. - Choose the Pro Type Ultra if you want a full-size mechanical board, light linear switches, a wrist rest and Bluetooth plus a 2.4 GHz receiver.
- Look elsewhere if a tactile bump, a choice of switch type, or a reliably silent sound profile is important to you.
- Compare office-focused alternatives such as the MX Keys if you do not specifically want mechanical switches; compare models such as the MX Mechanical or Keychron K10 if switch feel, layout and receiver options are central to your decision.
Price and availability
Razer listed a U.S. MSRP of $159.99 when it announced the keyboard in 2021, with a Q4 2021 launch window. That is historical launch information, not a current price. Check a retailer for present pricing and stock before buying. Razer’s 2021 announcement records the original MSRP and timing.
