Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteFor 4K gaming, the Radeon RX 9070 XT and GeForce RTX 5070 Ti are closely matched overall. In TechSpot’s 2026 test of 52 games at native 4K, the RTX 5070 Ti averaged 84 fps and the RX 9070 XT 81 fps—a roughly 4% Nvidia lead in that particular test suite. That margin is small enough that your games, ray-tracing needs, supported upscaling features, and the cards’ current local prices should decide the purchase.
Choose the RX 9070 XT if it costs meaningfully less and your games perform well on Radeon. Choose the RTX 5070 Ti if prices are close and you value its ray-tracing results, DLSS 4 features, or Nvidia software tools.
How close are they at native 4K?
TechSpot’s 2026 52-game update measured an average of 84 fps for the RTX 5070 Ti and 81 fps for the RX 9070 XT at native 4K, with the same broad test suite putting the GeForce about 4% ahead. These are results from one publication’s test setup, not a guarantee for every PC or game. A 2025 TechSpot comparison of 55 games had the Radeon about 5% behind at 4K; the changed game mix illustrates why averages can move between test suites. TechSpot’s 2026 comparison and its 2025 comparison provide the test-specific results.
Individual games can depart substantially from either average. TechSpot’s 2026 results show Radeon wins in selected rasterized games and Nvidia gains in some ray-traced scenarios. If you are choosing for a particular game library, prioritize benchmarks for those games, resolution, graphics preset, and rendering mode rather than treating the average as a universal ranking.

Which card is better for ray tracing and upscaling?
Ray tracing and path tracing
The GeForce is the stronger fit if ray tracing or path tracing is a priority, particularly in games where the tested RTX 5070 Ti leads. The size of the advantage depends on the game and settings; do not assume a result from one title applies to all ray-traced games.
Upscaling and frame generation
AMD documents FSR 4 for the RX 9070 series and says it uses an ML-based algorithm. It can work alongside existing FSR 3.1 frame generation in supported games. Nvidia lists DLSS 4 features for the RTX 5070 Ti, including Super Resolution, DLAA, Ray Reconstruction, Frame Generation, and Multi Frame Generation. These are feature families, not a promise that every game supports every mode. Check the game’s actual options and compare image quality and responsiveness in the mode you intend to use.

What do the specifications tell you?
| Specification | Radeon RX 9070 XT | GeForce RTX 5070 Ti |
|---|---|---|
| Memory | 16 GB GDDR6 | 16 GB GDDR7 |
| Memory interface | 256-bit | 256-bit |
| Published clock figure | 2.4 GHz game clock; up to 3.0 GHz boost clock | 2.45 GHz boost clock |
| Compute specification | 64 compute units | 8,960 CUDA cores |
| Published power figure | 304 W total board power | 300 W total graphics power |
| Published system PSU guidance | Not stated in the cited AMD specification | 750 W required system power for Nvidia’s reference design |
Specifications are manufacturer-published figures: AMD’s RX 9070 XT product specifications and Nvidia’s RTX 5070 family specifications. The power values are not perfectly like-for-like measurements, and Nvidia notes that add-in-card specifications can vary by manufacturer. Check the exact model’s power guidance, connector, dimensions, cooling design, and warranty before buying.
How much should you pay for each?
There is no single value winner without your country, retailer, and the current prices of the exact cards available to you. AMD announced a US suggested etail price of $599 for the RX 9070 XT on February 28, 2025; that is a historical launch figure, not a current street-price quote. Compare live, same-region listings for the specific partner models you are considering. A substantial Radeon discount can outweigh a modest average performance gap; at similar prices, the GeForce’s ray tracing and feature set may justify choosing it.

Which card should you buy for 4K gaming?
Choose the RX 9070 XT if…
- It is meaningfully cheaper than the RTX 5070 Ti where you shop.
- Your priority is native rasterized performance in games that favor the Radeon.
- The games you play support the FSR features you want to use.
Choose the RTX 5070 Ti if…
- Prices are close and you want the stronger fit for ray tracing or path tracing.
- Your games support the DLSS 4 modes you plan to use.
- You value Nvidia’s listed creator and streaming features, such as Broadcast, as well as its gaming features.
Nvidia describes the RTX 5070 family as using Blackwell, fourth-generation ray-tracing cores, and fifth-generation Tensor cores, and lists Reflex, Broadcast, and creator features. These manufacturer descriptions establish which features are offered; they are not independent proof of across-the-board quality superiority. Nvidia’s RTX 5070 family feature information details the offering.
Quick Recap
What to check before ordering
- Compare current prices and stock for exact RX 9070 XT and RTX 5070 Ti models in your market; do not use launch pricing as a current quote.
- Look up your chosen card’s dimensions and confirm case clearance, including room for its cooler and power cable.
- Follow the board partner’s PSU and connector guidance for that exact model. Nvidia’s 750 W figure applies to its reference design; partner-card specifications may differ.
- Check the retailer’s return policy and the manufacturer or seller’s warranty terms.
- If a game is decisive, compare results for that title at your resolution and settings, keeping native rendering, ray tracing, upscaling, and frame generation results separate.
