If Quordle is not working, first check the address bar: several different sites use the Quordle name, and their saved-game behavior may differ. Then try a reload and click or tap inside the board to give it focus. If Quordle won’t load or shows a blank screen, test browser and connection issues before clearing site data, which could erase locally saved progress.
First, check which Quordle site you are using
Look at the full address in your browser. Quordle-branded games may be independent, so advice about saved games or site settings on one version is not a guarantee for another. The troubleshooting information at quordle.uk is specific to that site; the FAQ at quordle.game provides its own guidance.
Identify the exact symptom before changing settings: a blank or stuck loading page, a physical keyboard that does nothing, a board cut off on screen, a guess that is rejected, an unfinished game that appears to have restarted, missing stats or a streak, or a sharing feature that fails. These problems can have different causes.
Try low-risk fixes for keyboard and display problems
Keyboard isn’t responding
- Click or tap inside the game board once. The Quordle.game FAQ specifically recommends clicking inside the game area to make sure it has focus: Quordle.game FAQ.
- Type a short test, or use the on-screen keyboard if the version you are playing provides one. For mobile play, Quordle.game recommends its built-in keyboard.
- Reload the page once if input still does nothing. If the board responds to taps but not to a physical keyboard, check that the game has focus and that the browser has not become unresponsive.
Board is cut off or difficult to use
- Reset the browser’s zoom to its default level, then reload if necessary.
- On a tablet, try rotating the device to give the board more room.
- If the browser is sluggish, close a few extra tabs or restart it before trying again.
A word is rejected
Check whether the page responds at all. If pressing Enter produces no response, investigate focus or browser input. If the game responds and rejects the word, that is different from a dead Enter key: the word may not be accepted by that site’s word list. Fix “Quordle won’t load” or a blank screen without risking progress
A blank game or endless loading can result from browser-side problems such as blocked JavaScript or scripts, stale cache, or a slow connection. These are possibilities to test, not proof that Quordle itself is down. Google’s general Chrome troubleshooting guidance also identifies extensions, browser data, browser updates, JavaScript, and network connection as areas to check: Fix videos and games that won’t play.
- Reload once and wait briefly. If the game is embedded or still loading, give it a short time before repeating the reload.
- Check the connection. Confirm that other pages load normally. If you can, compare the game on another network or another device.
- Check JavaScript and blockers. Make sure JavaScript is available in the browser. Temporarily test whether an extension, ad blocker, or content blocker is preventing scripts from running. Restore the extension afterward if it is not the cause.
- Try a different browser. If the same game works in another browser on the same device, the original browser is a useful place to investigate. A private window can also help test extensions or stored browser data, but it may not retain local game progress.
- Compare devices or networks. If the game works on another device or network, the cause may be local to the first device, browser, or connection.
Chrome’s advice is general browser guidance, not confirmation of a Quordle-specific outage. Avoid clearing cookies or site data as an early troubleshooting step if an unfinished board or stats matter.

Protect an unfinished game, stats, or streak
If your unfinished game restarted on its own or your stats or streak are missing, reopen the same site in the same browser profile and on the same device you used before. Do not assume that a different Quordle site shares progress with the one you played previously.
Quordle.uk says that its site has no accounts and keeps stats and unfinished games in the browser. Its guide warns that changing browser or device, using private browsing, or clearing browser data can make progress appear missing or remove it. Those statements apply to quordle.uk; the storage, account, sync, and recovery behavior of Merriam-Webster’s Quordle is not established here. Before clearing cookies or site data, consider that doing so may erase site-local progress.

When to contact the site
If safe checks do not solve the issue, send the site a report with enough detail to reproduce it. The quordle.uk contact page invites bug reports and says it typically responds within 24 hours, with weekend messages answered the following Monday; that service statement is specific to quordle.uk.
