Its product brief lists two variants—a 10-core model and a 6-core model—with the same 80 TOPS NPU specification but different cache sizes and GPU clocks. Qualcomm said select OEM laptops were expected to be available for purchase in the first half of 2026; that was the company’s forecast at announcement, not confirmation that a particular laptop is now for sale.
What is Snapdragon X2 Plus?
Snapdragon X2 Plus is Qualcomm’s laptop platform for Windows PCs, positioned within the Snapdragon X Series and the Windows 11 Copilot+ PC ecosystem. Qualcomm announced it at CES on January 5, 2026, calling it the newest entrant to the series. The company described the intended audience as modern professionals, aspiring creators, and everyday users. Qualcomm’s announcement and its product brief frame it as a platform, not a specific laptop model.
Which Snapdragon X2 Plus models did Qualcomm announce?
Qualcomm’s product brief lists two part numbers. Both specify an 80 TOPS Hexagon NPU and LPDDR5x memory running at 9523 MT/s. Their CPU core count, cache, and GPU clock differ:
| Variant | CPU cores | Cache | Maximum multi-core frequency | GPU | NPU | Memory speed |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| X2P-64-100 | 10 | 34 MB | Up to 4.0 GHz | X2-45 at 1.7 GHz | 80 TOPS | LPDDR5x at 9523 MT/s |
| X2P-42-100 | 6 | 22 MB | Up to 4.0 GHz | X2-45 at 0.9 GHz in the product brief; 0.91 GHz on Qualcomm’s product page | 80 TOPS | LPDDR5x at 9523 MT/s |
The Snapdragon X Series product page corroborates the headline specifications and gives the 6-core GPU clock as 0.91 GHz; the brief rounds it to 0.9 GHz. Qualcomm lists a 3 nm process node. These are platform specifications, not guarantees that every laptop using a given part will have the same memory capacity, cooling, or overall performance.

What is the difference between the 6-core and 10-core Snapdragon X2 Plus?
The 10-core X2P-64-100 has four more CPU cores and 12 MB more cache than the 6-core X2P-42-100. Both have a stated maximum multi-core frequency of up to 4.0 GHz and the same 80 TOPS NPU specification. The 10-core variant’s X2-45 GPU is listed at 1.7 GHz, compared with 0.9 GHz in the brief for the 6-core model (0.91 GHz on Qualcomm’s current product page).
Those figures describe the chips, but they do not establish which laptop will be faster for a particular workload. Qualcomm’s cited materials do not provide independent benchmark results or named laptop configurations. Buyers should compare actual laptops, including their cooling and power settings, rather than infer real-world speed from core count alone.
What other capabilities does the platform list?
Qualcomm’s product brief lists ARM64 compatibility, a 128-bit memory bus, up to 128 GB of LPDDR5x memory, and up to 152 GB/s memory bandwidth. Storage support includes NVMe through dual PCIe 5.0, UFS 4.0, and either SDUC with SD Express or SDXC with UHS-I. These are platform capabilities; an OEM determines what a particular laptop implements.

Qualcomm also lists Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth, and optional integrated 5G among its connectivity capabilities. Its materials describe automatic presence detection, biometric authentication, Qualcomm SPU and Microsoft Pluton security features, and optional Snapdragon Guardian technology. Availability depends on the OEM design and laptop configuration.
What performance and battery-life claims has Qualcomm made?
Qualcomm promotes a third-generation Oryon CPU, integrated Adreno graphics, and an 80 TOPS Hexagon NPU. It presents the platform as suitable for on-device AI experiences, photo and video editing, multimodal content generation, and autonomous AI agents. These are Qualcomm’s capability and positioning claims; the cited materials do not establish independent test results or performance gains against other processors.

Qualcomm markets multi-day battery life and says performance does not drop when a laptop runs on battery. Its product brief cautions that battery life varies significantly with the device, settings, usage, and other factors, and that features and functionality may vary by OEM design. Treat battery life as a laptop-specific question: the chip specification alone cannot predict how long a particular model will last.

Quick Recap
- Processor: Confirm whether it uses the 6-core X2P-42-100 or 10-core X2P-64-100.
- Memory and storage: Check the laptop’s installed capacity and drive; platform maximums do not mean every model ships with those amounts.
- Display and ports: Verify the built-in panel, external-display support, and physical ports on the specific model.
- Connectivity: Confirm whether options such as 5G are actually included, rather than merely supported by the platform.
- Software compatibility: Check that the applications and peripherals you rely on work with the laptop’s Windows on ARM configuration.
- Independent testing and support: Look for tests of the exact laptop configuration, plus its warranty and support terms.
