Qomo Linux 4.0 Beta was announced as distributed on September 24, 2012, with separate KDE and GNOME ISO images and a new project homepage. The announcement also outlined a three-level software repository and a planned update path from the beta to the eventual official release. Those repository and upgrade statements describe what the project said it intended in 2012; they do not confirm that the services or upgrade path are available today.

What Qomo Linux 4.0 Beta announced

A September 2012 post on Linux Foundation Forums, attributed to the forum handle xyxzfj, described Qomo as the community distribution of Linux-ren. It said the Qomo team had developed version 4.0 from scratch over several months and distributed the beta on September 24, 2012. The post also said the project homepage launched at the same time to preview features and concentrate release information. Linux Foundation Forums

The post is a historical announcement, not evidence of Qomo’s present-day status. It does not establish whether the homepage, downloads, repositories, or planned upgrade route remain available.

What the repository page and update plan meant

The announcement said the software repository would be organized into three stability levels, with the levels merged one by one according to stability. It also said beta users who kept their systems updated would receive the latest Qomo version without reinstalling, and would be able to upgrade smoothly to the eventual official release.

The source identifies no specific USB drive model, capacity, or currently compatible hardware.

What remains unknown today

The announcement is useful for identifying what Qomo said it released and planned in 2012, but it does not establish the distribution’s current maintenance status or whether any repository or ISO is still accessible. Anyone considering installation now would need current confirmation of project activity, image authenticity, repository availability, and supported upgrade instructions before using the old beta details.
