Sony’s latest PlayStation Portal system software is version 7.3.0. It adds an in-game 3D audio toggle and faster PlayStation Store search, including a QR-code handoff to the PlayStation App or a web browser. The update began rolling out in phases on October 8, 2026, according to PlayStation LifeStyle; Sony’s release notes confirm the features but do not give a release date.
What’s new in PS Portal update 7.3.0?
Sony’s US PS Portal release notes list three user-facing changes, plus general performance and usability improvements.
- 3D audio control during gameplay: You can turn 3D audio on or off while playing a game. Find the control under Settings > System > 3D Audio.
- Live search results: Search results now appear as you type.
- QR-code search handoff: Scan a QR code to continue a search in PlayStation Store on the PlayStation App or in a web browser.
- Maintenance and interface refinements: Sony says it improved system software performance and stability, as well as messages and usability on some screens. The notes do not include benchmarks or quantify those improvements.
