Our verdict on ZeroData Windows
ZeroData Windows is a Windows-based data-erasure tool for permanently sanitizing HDD, SSD, NVMe, USB, RAID and other storage devices. It is intended for PC reassignment, refurbishment, recycling, IT asset disposition, upgrades and donation workflows. Its scope covers both ordinary and previously restricted storage areas, including the master boot record and locked or hidden partition areas, making it suited to organizations that need repeatable disk-wiping procedures with documented output.
The Personal Annual License costs $94.50 per year and includes a ZeroData Windows program USB and a PDF manual. The software’s strongest differentiator is the depth of its erasure options: 45 documented compliance methods, SSD-specific approaches, firmware-based erasure and parallel wiping of multiple drives. It also checks drive health and bad-block information, which can add useful operational context when processing storage for reuse or disposal.
For workflows that require evidence, ZeroData Windows supports XML and other erasure reports and produces digitally signed PDF erasure certificates. WinPE operation and custom self-booting WinPE media support can also help with systems that need wiping outside a standard Windows installation. Choose it when Windows compatibility, broad storage support and certificate-based records are priorities. Organizations needing a free option or a non-Windows deployment should look elsewhere.
