Our verdict on YourDDNS
YourDDNS is an open-source dynamic DNS service for developers, home labs, and small teams. It offers a hosted public instance alongside self-hosting with Docker and Caddy. The product supports dynamic IPv4 and IPv6 records, custom domains, DNS-zone delegation, and multiple DNS zones. Its feature set is suited to users who need automated IP updates and more visibility than a basic hostname-only DDNS service.
The Free plan includes the dynamic DNS service, 3 records, and a 300-second minimum TTL. Starter expands the allowance to 10 records and lowers the minimum TTL to 120 seconds, while Pro supports 50 records and a 60-second minimum TTL. These tiers make the plan structure easy to compare by record capacity and update responsiveness. The account system also supports multiple users through email, OTP, and Google OAuth authentication.
For technical users, the HTTP API provides IP updates, while per-record API tokens allow credentials to be scoped to individual records. DNS resolution logs, update history, and per-subdomain reporting with date-range charts add operational visibility. Docker, Caddy, and Let's Encrypt support fit self-hosted deployments, with Google OAuth, Resend, and PayPal also included in the integration set. Choose YourDDNS if you want open-source DDNS with reporting, delegation, and self-hosting options; choose a broader DNS platform if you need capabilities beyond this focused dynamic DNS workflow.
