Our verdict on xAssets ITAM

xAssets ITAM is a web-based IT asset management platform for organizations tracking infrastructure from procurement through disposal. It brings together hardware and software inventory, agent-based and agentless discovery, software license compliance, contract and lease tracking, barcoding, audits, workflows, reporting, and employee self-service. The product is aimed at IT asset managers, desktop support teams, procurement groups, enterprises, and government or military organizations.

Pricing makes Express Edition particularly relevant to small teams. The free plan is cloud hosted, supports one user with no time limit, and includes 100 endpoints per user, Software Asset Management, Contract Management, and barcoding. The published positioning also describes the free Express Edition as supporting up to 1,000 assets, with lifecycle management, discovery, licensing, contracts, audits, workflows, an API, and self-service. Additional Express users cost $60 per user per month. Professional Edition is cloud hosted, priced per named user, requires two users, and licenses discovery per endpoint. Enterprise Edition supports cloud or on-premises deployment, includes two users in its base license, and offers named, concurrent, and light user types.

Its integration and deployment options suit teams with established infrastructure systems. xAssets lists connections for Active Directory, Microsoft SCCM, Microsoft Intune, JAMF, Azure AD, Azure Cloud, AWS Cloud, Google Cloud, JIRA Service Desk, and Okta, alongside a REST API for integrations and data operations. Configurable forms, menus, reports, notifications, dashboards, and change history add operational depth. Small teams should choose xAssets ITAM when a free core with broad asset-management functions is the priority. Teams needing wider platform coverage, multiple free users, or included modules beyond the Express scope should compare alternatives or budget for a paid tier.
