Our verdict on Wioski
Wioski is a free self-healing kiosk solution for Windows computers. It installs a Windows image into a virtual hard-disk file and uses differencing disks for incremental writes. In Kiosk mode, changes made to applications and the system are deleted after shutdown or reboot, returning the machine to its baseline. That makes it suited to kiosk operators and administrators who need repeatable workstation states across solo, small, or mid-market deployments.
The Free plan provides the core deployment model without a paid tier distinction: self-healing Windows kiosk deployment. Wioski supports Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10 images, plus a Windows 10/11 x64 release with native UEFI support. Administrators can distribute the software through USB, DVD, or ISO installation media, and optional unattended installation automation can support repeatable rollouts. Because the platform is Windows-only, its fit is strongest where the device estate already centers on supported Windows images.
Administration is split between Kiosk mode and Maintenance mode. Maintenance mode keeps changes persistent while administrators install software, hotfixes, language packs, or other updates; re-enabling Kiosk mode restores automatic cleanup. A manual ResetNow command adds an explicit reset path. Support is provided through email and documentation, while the website offers a Wioski 2.2 download. The documentation and blog material largely date from 2012–2017, so organizations seeking a broader operating-system scope or a more current documentation set should consider alternatives. Choose Wioski for free Windows kiosk reset deployments; look elsewhere when non-Windows coverage is required.
