Our verdict on WeightWatchers
WeightWatchers is a digital weight-management and nutrition tracking program for consumers who want structured guidance around food, activity, weight, and meal planning. Its Points®-based approach is complemented by macro tracking, food logging, recipes, pre-made meal plans, progress reports, weekly check-ins, and a members-only social network. The service also covers water and sleep tracking, barcode scanning for packaged foods, 24/7 coach chat, and optional clinical services. It is available through the web, iOS, and Android, with programs supporting weight loss, weight maintenance, diabetes management, menopause, and GLP-1 medication journeys.
The published plans show four paid options. Core costs $12 per month when billed annually and includes the Points® program, 12,000 healthy recipes, macro tracking, social features, activity integration, and sleep tracking. Core+ costs $22 per month when billed annually and lists the same included features. Med+ adds access to medication, clinical care, comprehensive support, and the GLP-1 Success Program, priced at $74 per month annually or $84 per month monthly. A 30-day trial is available, but there is no free plan. The plan structure makes Core the straightforward entry point, while Med+ is intended for people seeking clinical and medication-related support.
For everyday tracking, WeightWatchers combines nutrition planning with broader progress monitoring rather than focusing only on calories or macros. Apple Health, Fitbit, and Google Health Connect integrations can connect activity data, while the apps and web access support use across platforms. Coaching chat and community features add support around the tracking workflow. The main consideration is its Points®-centered system: people who want a macro-first tool without that framework may prefer a narrower nutrition tracker. Choose WeightWatchers for structured weight-management support with planning, coaching, and optional clinical services; choose an alternative if you want a free product or a simpler tracking-only experience.
