Our verdict on WebXPRT
WebXPRT is a free, browser-based benchmark for measuring how laptops, desktops, phones, tablets and other web-enabled devices handle realistic web workloads. It is aimed at individuals, teams and organizations that need a consistent way to compare browser and web application performance without installing benchmark software. The current WebXPRT 5 version produces an overall score alongside individual workload results, while WebXPRT 4 remains available for legacy testing.
Its main strength is the breadth of its browser-focused workload set. The seven workloads cover browser performance, photo effects, video background blur, face detection, image classification, document scanning and OCR, DNA-sequence processing, and spell checking. These exercises test HTML5, JavaScript, WebAssembly, Canvas, Web Workers, computer vision and machine learning capabilities. Buyers can run selected workloads, use custom test profiles, and automate URL-based runs. The result is a more specific view of web performance than a single aggregate score, with AI-based face detection and image classification included in the test mix.
WebXPRT also fits comparison-oriented workflows: results can be compared with other devices through its online results database and exported to CSV for further analysis. Normal testing requires no download, and the web deployment model supports use across web-enabled devices. Email and documentation are available for support, and GDPR is listed in its compliance posture. Choose WebXPRT when browser workloads, cross-device comparisons and lightweight access matter most. Choose a broader desktop benchmark instead when the goal is to evaluate general system performance beyond web applications.
