Our verdict on WebhookX

WebhookX is an open-source webhook gateway for engineering teams that need to receive, validate, transform, route, and deliver events. It supports self-hosted deployment across Windows, macOS, Linux, API-based workflows, Docker, and other deployment methods. Its separate Admin, Proxy, and Worker components suit teams that want control over how the service is operated. The product is particularly well matched to engineering groups that need webhook routing and observability rather than a hosted-only workflow.

The feature set covers the main stages of webhook delivery. WebhookX can retry deliveries with configurable delays, route and fan out events to multiple endpoints, and inspect individual requests alongside delivery responses. Inbound and outbound plugins support authentication and transformation, while source and endpoint rate limiting help control traffic. JavaScript-based inbound signature verification and HMAC signing of outbound requests address common validation and delivery requirements. OpenTelemetry metrics and tracing add visibility, and declarative YAML configuration plus CLI administration support configuration-driven operations.

WebhookX uses a freemium model. The Community edition is free and includes the community version’s capabilities. Team adds email support, a response SLA, up to 10 workspaces, and integrations; the homepage lists this plan as coming soon. Enterprise adds premium support, a response SLA, unlimited workspaces, failure notification, advanced retention, and integrations. Teams choosing WebhookX should be comfortable with self-hosting and managing its components. It is a less suitable choice for buyers seeking a hosted webhook service or a product centered on a documented event-replay workflow.
