Our verdict on WarnWetter
WarnWetter is the German National Meteorological Service’s app for people who want current conditions and official warnings in Germany. Its free version covers warnings down to municipality level, configurable warning types and push alerts, natural-hazard warnings, favorite locations, and widgets. It is available for Android and iOS, with a general weather focus as well as detailed warning information.
The free version is available without a time limit. According to the vendor’s published pricing, a one-time in-app purchase of €2.49 unlocks the Full version; there is no monthly billing. That paid tier adds maps with forecasts up to seven days ahead, precipitation radar layers, and weather station observations and forecasts. The additional map and observation tools make the upgrade relevant for people who want more than alerts, while the free tier remains useful for warning-focused use.
Warnings are the app’s clearest strength: users can configure warning types and levels, and the coverage includes floods, storm surges, and avalanches. The Full version adds radar and model forecasts for rain, snow, sleet, and hail, plus satellite cloud data, lightning information, wind, and temperature forecasts. The seven-day horizon is a constraint for anyone who needs a longer outlook. WarnWetter suits people focused on local German warnings and related forecasts; it is less suitable for those seeking weather coverage beyond Germany or a longer-range forecast.
