Warden is an open-source command-line utility for orchestrating Docker-based development environments on developer machines. It suits teams building PHP-oriented projects that need isolated project containers alongside shared services. Predefined environments cover Drupal, Laravel, Magento, Shopware, Symfony, WordPress, and other PHP-based frameworks and platforms. Warden supports macOS and Linux directly, while Windows workflows run through WSL2 with Docker for Windows.

Its strongest fit is the combination of local networking and service control. Traefik handles routing and SSL termination, automatic DNS resolution supports .test domains, and wildcard local SSL certificates help reproduce HTTPS-oriented development setups. Developers can also access project databases through SSH tunnels and enter project containers for shell or debug work. Configurable PHP, Node.js, Composer, database, and service versions give projects room to align their local runtime with their application requirements.
