Our verdict on VoxBento

VoxBento is an open-source, browser-based platform for simultaneous interpretation at conferences, hybrid events, meetings, and broadcasts. Event organizers create rooms and language booths, while interpreters monitor floor audio through Jitsi and broadcast translated audio to attendees over WebRTC. It is aimed at technical teams in mid-market and enterprise organizations that want to operate interpretation workflows themselves, rather than buyers seeking a turnkey meeting service.

Its standout capability is the combination of live interpretation controls and event audio delivery. Interpreters can use handoff controls, and attendees receive translated audio through WebRTC/WHIP broadcasting described as sub-second latency. VoxBento also supports live captions delivered through a captions WebSocket, floor-audio capture through a Floor Bot, and role-based access for events and booths. Optional AI transcription and translation can connect to providers including OpenAI, Anthropic, Groq, Deepgram, ElevenLabs, NVIDIA Riva, and Gemini. This makes the product broader than a booth-only tool, but teams should expect to configure the surrounding event and provider workflow.

Deployment and ecosystem fit are central buying considerations. The platform is available for web and API use, with cloud and self-hosted deployment options; its self-hosting documentation describes Docker Compose deployment on an organization's infrastructure. Integrations include Jitsi Meet and MediaMTX, while REST and WebSocket APIs provide additional integration paths. VoxBento is presented as open-source software, and a hosted demonstration is available. Support channels are documentation and community, so organizations that need a managed service or a defined support channel beyond those options may prefer another product. Choose VoxBento when technical ownership and configurable interpretation workflows matter; look elsewhere if you need a low-effort, ready-to-use service.
