Our verdict on VBS PRO

VBS PRO is an online event registration and management system from Group Publishing, designed for Vacation Bible School and other church children’s events. It gives churches a mobile-friendly registration website for participants and volunteers, along with tools for organizing crews, assigning volunteer jobs, tracking attendance, checking in children, and sending automated email confirmations. Its focus is clear: coordinating the people, schedules, and registration details around a children’s program rather than serving as a general-purpose event platform.

The freemium structure provides a practical starting point for a single event. The Free plan supports one event at a time, participant and volunteer registration, crew and volunteer assignment, a mobile-friendly registration site, and automated confirmations. Premium expands the operating model for churches running more involved programs: it supports multiple simultaneous events, past-event data retention, morning, afternoon, or evening sessions, up to 15 custom registration fields, custom event pages, event copying, and automatic child-to-crew assignment. Those additions make the paid tier particularly relevant when a church needs repeatable processes or more detailed registration forms.

VBS PRO’s strongest fit is a church that wants a dedicated web-based workflow for VBS registration and on-site participation management. Custom fields, attendance, child check-in, confirmations, and crew assignment cover the core administrative path from sign-up through event arrival. The tradeoff is a narrow platform footprint: it is available on the web, and payment collection is not a product capability. Churches needing payment handling or a broader event-management system should choose an alternative. For VBS programs centered on registration, staffing, sessions, and child check-in, VBS PRO offers a focused set of tools with a clear free-to-premium progression.
