Our verdict on Vaultly
Vaultly is a local photo and video vault for iPhone and iPad, designed for people who want to keep private media, notes, and documents behind Face ID or a PIN. It works without an account and organizes content through private albums, favorites, and date-grouped browsing. The Free plan covers the first 40 items with no sign-up required, while Vaultly Pro monthly and Vaultly Pro yearly provide ad-free unlimited use.
Its standout feature set is centered on local privacy controls. Vaultly encrypts stored photos and videos on the device, supports a separate decoy vault passcode, and can detect intruders and issue break-in alerts. It also extends beyond media storage with encrypted notes, document storage, and encrypted vault backup export. These tools make it a practical fit for a small personal vault where device-based access and discreet organization matter more than cross-device access.
The main trade-off is its narrow platform and local-storage model. Vaultly is available for iPhone and iPad, with no cloud backup and no private camera, so it is less suited to people who need automatic recovery, broad device synchronization, or a larger free library. The privacy disclosures also differ across the product’s materials: the website describes no ad SDKs, trackers, servers, or data collection, while the App Store listing describes advertising, tracking, analytics, and crash-data disclosures. Choose Vaultly for a compact local vault with decoy and intruder controls; choose an alternative if cloud backup or broader platform coverage is essential.
