Vault Desk review
A privacy-focused storage service with secure sharing and practical team controls.

Vault Desk is a zero-knowledge, end-to-end encrypted cloud storage service for individuals and organizations that need private file storage and controlled sharing. Files, folders and file names are encrypted on the user’s device before upload, while servers store ciphertext and wrapped keys. The service includes browser access, iOS and Android apps, folders, starring, trash and restore. Its strongest fit is for small teams that want secure sharing without giving up familiar cloud-storage basics.
Pricing follows a freemium structure. Free provides 5 GB of encrypted storage, secure sharing, public links, and web and mobile access. Plus costs USD 4 per month and increases storage to 250 GB, while adding password-protected links, link expiry and priority support. Team costs USD 15 per month and provides 1 TB, shared team spaces, administrative controls and audit features. The progression is easy to understand: individual storage starts free, stronger link controls arrive with Plus, and collaboration administration is reserved for Team.
Security and sharing are the main reasons to choose Vault Desk. Client-side encryption, ciphertext-only servers, Key Transparency for recipient public keys, and a one-time recovery key create a privacy-centered design. Encrypted sharing can be revoked or have roles changed, giving teams more control after a file is sent. The tradeoff is platform fit: the named user experience focuses on web, iOS and Android, so desktop-first workflows may be less suitable. Choose Vault Desk for encrypted sharing and small-team administration; consider an alternative if broad desktop coverage or AI features are central requirements.
Vault Desk pros and cons

- Where it doesn't
- Free storage is limited to 5 GB.
- Password-protected links and expiry start with the Plus plan.
- Access centers on web and mobile rather than a named desktop app.
