Our verdict on Turbot Guardrails

Turbot Guardrails is a cloud governance platform for organizations managing AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and related infrastructure. It combines policy-based discovery, compliance monitoring, cloud resource inventory, identity controls and remediation workflows. The platform is suited to teams that need consistent governance across multiple cloud and infrastructure environments, including those managing GitHub and Kubernetes alongside public-cloud resources.

Guardrails’ strongest capability is policy-driven automation. Policies can be inherited, customized and given exceptions, while event-driven detection supports continuous compliance and automated remediation. Scheduled start and stop automation helps manage cloud resources on a defined schedule, and self-healing infrastructure-as-code deployments extend remediation into IaC workflows. Human-confirmed quick actions, approvals, a GraphQL API, CLI and Terraform provider provide additional control for teams that want automation with review points. Integrations include AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, GitHub, Kubernetes and ServiceNow.

Pricing starts with the Cloud plan at $0.05 USD per control per month, billed monthly. It includes SaaS hosting, a cloud CMDB, policy enforcement, continuous compliance, self-healing IaC deployments and SSO and SAML. Enterprise costs $0.10 USD per control per month and adds self-hosting, IP and network restrictions, full infrastructure change control, LDAP Sync and unlimited log retention. A 14-day trial is available, but there is no perpetual free plan, and the pricing page lists control-pack minimums. Developer Support, Premium Support and Premium Plus Support provide progressively broader support coverage, including 24x7 support and different critical-response SLAs. Choose Guardrails for policy-led multi-cloud remediation and controlled automation; consider alternatives if you need a permanently free governance tier or simpler, less policy-intensive automation.
