Our verdict on TurboCAD

TurboCAD is a desktop CAD product line for creating and editing 2D drawings and 3D models. Its Windows and separate Mac offerings make it relevant to solo users and small or mid-market teams seeking drafting software with room to take on more modeling work. Windows editions include Designer, Deluxe, Professional, and Platinum, while the Mac product line is separate. This is a fit for buyers who want an installed CAD application rather than a browser-based workflow, and who can choose tools by edition.

The published Windows annual term licenses start with Designer at $99.99 per license per year, followed by Deluxe at $199.99, Professional at $399.99, and Platinum at $599.99. Each is time-limited and includes maintenance and support for the term. Three-year term licenses are also listed at $299.99, $599.99, $1,199.99, and $1,799.99 respectively. There is no free plan, though IMSI Design lists free evaluation versions. Buyers should compare the selected edition's feature set with their drafting and modeling requirements before committing to a term.

The product line spans basic 2D drawing, editing, and modification through 3D extrusion, sweep, revolve, Boolean operations, surface modeling, sheet-metal tools, photorealistic rendering, and 3D print repair. Format support is edition-dependent: the Windows comparison lists 54, 25, 22, or 15 import/open formats and 34, 27, 23, or 16 export/save/publish formats, with types such as DWG/DXF, STL, SketchUp, PDF, and 3D PDF. That range makes edition choice consequential for file exchange as well as features. Pick TurboCAD if desktop 2D work and optional higher-tier 3D capabilities align with your needs; consider alternatives if you require a free plan or need format coverage not supported by your chosen edition.
