Our verdict on Transit.sh
Transit.sh is a browser- and command-line-based file transfer service for sending files directly between users without intermediate storage. It is suited to individuals and teams that want a minimal transfer workflow through a web interface or cURL, rather than a broader file-management platform. Browser users can drag and drop files, while command-line users can upload and download through cURL. The service is available through the web and API, and is free for non-commercial applications.
Its main strength is the range of transfer paths within a focused workflow. Browser transfers use WebSockets, while cURL supports both uploads and downloads. A file uploaded through one method can be downloaded through another, which suits workflows that move between a browser and a terminal. Shared downloads use generated links, with user-chosen transfer IDs available for those links. The preview page can also offer an optional direct-download URL, giving senders a choice between a viewing step and a direct file request.
The published service notes set a 100 MiB maximum for cURL transfers and recommend browser WebSockets for large files. That makes the browser path the more suitable option when command-line transfer size is a constraint. Transit.sh is also presented as a beta proof of concept, so it fits buyers who value direct transfers and a small, clearly defined feature set over a mature, broad file-transfer suite. Choose it for straightforward browser and cURL exchanges; look elsewhere if your requirements center on commercial use, extensive platform integrations, or a wider operational feature set.
