Our verdict on TaxFormHero
TaxFormHero is an IRS-authorized web platform for filing 1099, W-2, ACA, 1098, 5498, W-2G and related information returns. It is aimed at small and medium businesses, accountants, CPAs, bookkeepers, corporations and higher-volume filers. Users can enter forms manually or import recipients from Excel or CSV, then transmit federal filings to the IRS and SSA. State filing covers 41-plus states and supports the Combined Federal/State Filing Program.
Pricing is pay-as-you-go rather than subscription-based. The first 150 forms cost $1.99 per form and include 1099, 1098, W-2G and 5498 forms without monthly fees. Forms 151 through 500 cost $0.99 each, forms 501 through 1,000 cost $0.60 each, and volumes beyond 1,000 cost $0.45 per form. Optional services include direct state filing at $0.99 per form, e-delivery, and print-and-mail delivery. This structure suits organizations whose volume varies or increases over the filing season.
Operational coverage extends to secure W-9 collection, signed recipient records, IRS TIN matching, multiple payer entities and EINs, free downloadable recipient PDFs, and four-year filing-data retention. Corrections for current and prior years are available when the original filing was submitted through TaxFormHero. QuickBooks and Xero integrations support existing accounting workflows, while email, phone and documentation provide support channels.
