Our verdict on Stellar Blade
Stellar Blade is a story-driven, single-player action adventure in which EVE, a member of an airborne squad, is sent to reclaim a ruined Earth from the Naytiba. Its focus is fast-paced combat: players can use quick and strong melee attacks, combos, ranged weapons and drone ammunition, while taking on bosses and improving combat skills. Semi-open environments, side quests and item scavenging add exploration around the fights. It suits players looking for a focused solo action game rather than online co-op play.
Combat has several layers beyond basic melee. Beta and Burst skills can be acquired or upgraded, and ranged attacks give players another option in encounters. Boss fights and skill upgrades reinforce the action focus, while side quests and scavenging broaden the pace with exploration. Optional downloadable crossover expansions are also part of the offering. The game is single-player, so players seeking online co-op should look elsewhere; those who want combat paired with exploration may find its mix a better fit.
According to the PlayStation listing, the Standard Edition costs $69.99 as a one-time purchase and includes the full game.
