Our verdict on SR Research Data Viewer

SR Research Data Viewer is desktop analysis software for gaze data recorded with EyeLink eye trackers. It is designed for academic and research users who need to inspect, filter, group, visualize, and report eye-tracking trials across Windows, macOS, and Linux. Its scope covers fixation, saccade, pupil, sample, time-series, trial, and interest-area data, making it suited to research workflows that need analysis beyond basic gaze playback.

Its main strength is the depth of its visual and analytical toolkit. Researchers can compare fixations and saccades through spatial overlays, examine gaze and pupil measures in temporal graphs, and review animated playback with beeswarm animations and dynamic heatmaps. Static heatmaps, interest-area analysis, trial grouping, filtering, and aggregate analysis add further ways to examine results. Reports can be exported as tab-delimited text for Excel, R, SPSS, and other analysis tools, while gaze overlays can be exported as images or videos.

Data Viewer also fits workflows built around SR Research and several established research tools. It integrates with SR Research Experiment Builder and WebLink, as well as E-Prime, PsychoPy, and Psychtoolbox. The software can run temporarily in restricted demo mode, but full operation requires a license key, with purchase details handled through SR Research sales. Choose it when your work depends on EyeLink data and detailed trial-level analysis across desktop operating systems. Consider another option if you need a general-purpose eye-tracking tool, a free plan, or analysis centered on hardware beyond EyeLink systems.
