SSNN is a live audio processor and synthesizer from sonicPlanet LTD, built around a 960-neuron, 32-layer spiking neural network. It is aimed at musicians exploring experimental neural synthesis, spectral processing, and MIDI generation. The plug-in analyzes incoming audio continuously with an FFT, stores spectral information in network weights, and drives eight synthesis engines in real time. Its unusual approach is better suited to sound designers and producers seeking exploratory tools than to buyers looking for a conventional instrument library.

The sound-shaping system combines continuous spectral learning with closed-loop resynthesis using per-layer buffers. Users can morph neural-network weights in real time and adjust spectral controls, while the eight engines include Pulse, Modal, Synaptic FM, Granular, FM, Comb Filter, Tape, and Arpeggiator. A 32-layer arpeggiator supports quantization and Scala tuning. These features give SSNN a broad experimental palette, though the neural-network workflow is a specialized focus rather than a general-purpose instrument setup.
