Our verdict on SmartThings Find
SmartThings Find is Samsung’s device-location service for people who need to recover compatible Galaxy phones, tablets, watches, earbuds, or Samsung SmartTags. It works through the SmartThings app and a web interface, and requires a Samsung account and supported Samsung devices. Its central job is practical recovery: see a device on a map, search nearby, get directions, or make it ring remotely.
Location options extend beyond a device’s last visible position. Offline Finding can use nearby Galaxy devices to relay a missing device’s location when enabled, and missing phones or tablets can provide location updates every 15 minutes. Users can also share device information with other Galaxy users. These capabilities make the service a natural fit for someone already in Samsung’s device ecosystem, while compatibility, software, and settings determine which features are available. The published feature set is focused on Samsung products rather than broad tracker compatibility.
SmartThings Find is free, with map location, remote ring, lock, and erase available without a paid plan. Remote lock or erase applies to supported phones and tablets; the service also specifies extending battery life as a remote action. Samsung says basic SmartTag tracking does not require a paid service. Choose it for no-cost recovery tools centered on compatible Galaxy devices and SmartTags. It is less suitable if you need a locator built around a wider mix of device brands or broader capabilities than the listed recovery functions.
