Our verdict on SmartDO

SmartDO is a general-purpose engineering design-optimization platform from FEA-Opt Technology Co. Ltd., founded in 2005. It is aimed at engineering teams working on complex industrial design problems across structural, thermal, CFD, electromagnetic, acoustic, and other disciplines. The platform combines a one-page optimization setup GUI with constrained studies, direct global search, gradient-based and genetic-algorithm solvers, multi-objective optimization with APO, and concurrent sizing, shaping, and topology optimization.

Its ecosystem fit is a central strength. SmartDO connects with ANSYS Workbench, NX Simcenter3D, SOLIDWORKS, FreeCAD, PrePoMax, CalculiX, ANSA/Meta, Python, and Tcl/Tk.
