Shield Security is a WordPress security plugin for site owners, businesses, and agencies managing individual or client sites. Its application-level web application firewall protects WordPress requests, while API and XML-RPC controls, bot and spam protection, IP blocking, vulnerability scanning, malware detection, login protection, backups, and traffic rate limiting extend coverage beyond a basic WAF. The free tier is aimed at lower-risk sites, while paid options add protection for business-critical sites and portfolios.
The published plans show a Free tier with core hardening, bot protection, and free-forever access. A 14-day free trial is also available. Plus adds backups, malware scanning, stronger logins, and traffic rate limiting.
