Our verdict on Sensu Go

Sensu Go is an infrastructure monitoring and observability platform for DevOps and SRE teams managing servers, virtual machines, containers, applications, services, and external resources. Its agent-based model combines health checks, metrics, events, alert routing, proxy entities, and remediation through scripts and integrations. It is available for on-premises and public-cloud infrastructure through a self-hosted deployment, with web, REST API, and command-line interfaces for management.

Pricing is structured around evaluation and node-based paid plans. Sensu Go FREE supports up to 100 nodes with unlimited evaluation and does not require a trial. Sensu Go Pro costs $3 USD per node per month when billed annually, includes 100 nodes, supports up to 3,000 nodes, and includes a 6-hour Level 1 response time. Sensu Go Enterprise costs $5 USD per node per month when billed annually, includes 300 nodes, supports unlimited nodes under management up to the amount purchased, and includes a 3-hour Level 1 response time. The free tier gives smaller teams room to evaluate the platform, while the paid tiers add larger included-node allowances and defined response times.

Sensu Go fits environments that need broad infrastructure coverage alongside operational automation. It supports VM, cloud compute, container, and service discovery; custom scripts and Nagios-style plugins; metric collection and processing; and federation for distributed infrastructure. Integrations include Ansible, Amazon EC2, Elasticsearch, InfluxDB, Kubernetes, PagerDuty, SaltStack, ServiceNow, Sumo Logic, Grafana, and Graphite. Proxy entities extend monitoring to agentless external resources. Teams seeking self-hosted control and flexible automation should consider Sensu Go; organizations wanting a managed monitoring service or open-source software should look elsewhere.
