RedBeam Asset Tracking review
A compliance-focused asset tracker with broad controls, but a high per-user cost.

RedBeam Asset Tracking is cloud-hosted software for organizations managing fixed assets across locations, users, and departments. It supports barcode, QR-code, and RFID labeling; check-in and check-out workflows; physical inventories; and records for asset location, assignment, condition, status, usage, and valuation. Web access, Android and iOS scanning, offline mobile operation, role-based permissions, and REST API connectivity make it suitable for education, construction, healthcare, government, manufacturing, and other compliance-focused programs.
Pricing is structured around three per-user license terms. The 1-Year License costs $1,200 per user and includes unlimited locations, unlimited assets, mobile scanning, check-in and check-out, and detailed audit reporting. The 3-Year License costs $3,420 per user and includes 5% savings, while the 5-Year License costs $5,400 per user and includes 10% savings. Both longer-term plans include the cloud-hosted solution, unlimited locations, unlimited assets, and check-in and check-out. A 30-day free trial is available, but there is no free plan. The pricing model suits organizations able to commit to paid, multi-year asset programs, while the starting cost may be difficult for smaller teams or deployments needing only basic inventory control.
The product’s strongest area is controlled asset governance. Audit and compliance reporting are paired with maintenance and depreciation reporting, valuation tracking, custody workflows, and role-based permissions. Offline mobile operation with synchronization helps support physical inventories where connectivity is inconsistent, and REST APIs can connect asset records with ERP systems. RedBeam is a strong fit when accountability, auditability, and lifecycle records matter more than location intelligence. Organizations that require GPS-based tracking should choose a product with that capability instead.
