Our verdict on Ravenstash
Ravenstash is a hosted artifact repository service for developers, platform teams, and security-conscious organizations. It supports private repositories for PyPI, npm, Maven, OCI/Docker, and Helm OCI artifacts, along with protected dependency mirrors, automation tokens, authenticated delivery, and package activity visibility. The service is available through web, Windows, macOS, Linux, and API access, with the rvs CLI connecting repository selection and device login to familiar package workflows.
Pricing starts with a Free plan at $0 per month, including one artifact repository, automation tokens for personal CI, protected mirrors for PyPI.org, npm Registry, and Maven Central, plus MFA, passkeys, and session management. Pro costs $7 per month or $72 per year and adds all supported formats, unlimited repositories and artifacts, custom upstream remotes, and usage metrics. Team costs $34 per month or $348 per year, adding unlimited artifact repositories, all package and container image formats, malware and dependency vulnerability scanning, and private mirrors for official public registries. Business costs $235 per month or $2,388 per year, with managed storage in North America or the EU, usage metrics, and event audit logs up to 6 months. Enterprise adds unlimited storage, data transfer, and users, customer-owned storage, compliance reports, and advanced audit logs with custom retention.
Its main strength is breadth within a focused hosted model: Ravenstash covers common package and container ecosystems, caching, security scanning, global delivery through 300+ locations, and storage options that include supported customer-owned providers such as Cloudflare R2. The trade-off is basic access control and a hosted-only deployment model, which may not suit organizations requiring self-managed infrastructure or deeper permission customization. Choose Ravenstash for inexpensive repositories and protected dependency access; consider an alternative when deployment control or more granular access management is central.
