Our verdict on Rain Alarm

Rain Alarm is a weather app for people who want to know when precipitation is approaching, rather than start with a broad daily forecast. It uses near-real-time radar data for short-term alerts and is aimed at activities such as cycling, hiking, gardening and dog walking. Its emphasis is practical timing: the app can notify with sound, vibration or speech, while a map gives a visual overview of precipitation. A separate forecast page adds broader weather information and warnings where available.

The alerting detail is the clearest reason to choose Rain Alarm. It differentiates rain, hail, sleet, snow and freezing rain, which helps make the approach alert more specific than a generic rain notification. Widgets come in different sizes and themes, and the standalone Wear OS app includes notifications, a tile and a complication. Android Auto support is listed for subscribers. These options suit someone who checks conditions from a phone, watch or car display, while the separate forecast page serves users who also need general weather information. The product is available on web, Android and iOS.

Rain Alarm is freemium, with a free plan and paid Remove ads subscriptions offered monthly or yearly; both paid options remove ads. Multiple locations and multiple alarms are available through in-app purchases, whose prices may differ by store or region. That makes the free version a sensible starting point for a user focused on one location, but frequent travelers or anyone managing several alert zones should account for those purchases. Choose Rain Alarm when precipitation timing and alert customization matter most; choose a broader forecast-first app if a single integrated outlook is your priority.
