Our verdict on Quelea
Quelea is free, open-source presentation software for churches and worship teams. It organizes lyrics, Bible passages, videos, images, schedules, and PowerPoint presentations for projection during services. The software supports Windows, macOS, and Linux, with official downloads also provided for cross-platform Java installations. Its strongest fit is for teams migrating from another church presentation product or looking for a free tool with broad content support rather than a hosted presentation service.
Content migration is a clear strength. Quelea can import from EasyWorship, OpenLP, OpenSong, and other formats, while Zefania XML Bible support adds another route for bringing material into the workflow. During a service, teams can use quick editing during a song, schedule lyrics, display video, image, or color backgrounds, and send lyrics to a browser-based mobile view. PowerPoint presentation support and a separate stage view make it suitable for services where the audience display and presenter-facing information need different views.
The free plan is the product's complete published offering: it is free to use and carries an open-source license. There are no paid tiers to compare, so teams choose Quelea for its platform coverage and feature set rather than for plan-based upgrades. Projector calibration test patterns are a practical inclusion for projection-focused setups, while the multilingual interface broadens its usability. Quelea should suit churches that value ownership, migration options, and a wide range of presentation inputs. Teams seeking a hosted service or a workflow centered outside church presentation may prefer a different category of tool.
