Our verdict on PullPreview
PullPreview is an open-source GitHub Action for teams that need live preview environments for labeled pull requests. It provisions infrastructure owned by the customer, deploys applications with Docker Compose or Helm, posts preview URLs and job summaries to pull requests, redeploys when pull requests change, and removes environments when labels are removed or pull requests close. The fit is strongest for GitHub-centric teams that want self-hosted preview workflows rather than a broad, multi-provider platform.
Its feature set covers the preview lifecycle from deployment through cleanup. PullPreview can provision on AWS Lightsail or Hetzner Cloud, use Docker Hub or GitHub Container Registry, and support database previews through persistent Docker volumes. Automatic HTTPS is provided with Caddy and Let’s Encrypt, while custom domains and configurable DNS suffixes support branded preview URLs. Authorized GitHub users can access environments over SSH, and TTL-based cleanup helps control how long previews remain available. These capabilities give teams room to run application and database previews without treating each pull request as a disposable, stateless deployment.
