Our verdict on Psiphon

Psiphon is open-source censorship-circumvention software for people who need to reach content blocked by governments, institutions, or networks. It combines VPN, SSH, and HTTP/SOCKS proxy connectivity with encryption and traffic obfuscation, giving users several ways to connect when standard protocols are blocked. The service is available on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, with whole-device tunneling on supported configurations. It also offers more than 20 selectable server countries.

Its strongest advantage is breadth in connection methods and server discovery. Psiphon automatically finds servers and uses a changing server network, while obfuscation is intended to resist censorship and protocol blocking. Android users can apply split tunneling and per-app VPN selection, and Windows includes local-website split tunneling. Automatic client updates and digitally signed downloads add software-integrity measures. These capabilities make Psiphon a practical fit for circumvention scenarios, particularly where connection flexibility matters more than the feature set of a conventional privacy VPN.

Psiphon follows a freemium model. The free service provides access with advertisements, while Premium, Psiphon Premium Monthly, and Psiphon Premium Annual remove advertisements and provide faster VPN connections. Subscription availability and pricing may vary by region and app store. The published independent security assessment was not a dedicated no-logs audit, so buyers seeking a conventional VPN with that specific assurance should consider an alternative. Choose Psiphon for open-source access tools, multiple connection paths, and censorship resistance; choose elsewhere if dedicated no-logs verification is central to the decision.
