Our verdict on Preserve Forever
Preserve Forever is a family-oriented photo storage service for people who want to back up original files, organize a library, share albums, and retain older photos in archive storage. It supports JPG, PNG, HEIC, and WebP uploads up to 50 MB, with access through the web, iOS, and Android. Search can organize photos by date, person, or moment, while shared albums support member contributions. The Basic plan provides 2 GB at no cost, along with encryption in transit and at rest and the ability to export everything at any time.
Pricing scales by storage and restore limits. Standard costs $2.99 per month or $30 per year for 400 GB, archive access, 100 files per restore, and five shared albums. Plus costs $5.99 per month or $61 per year for 1 TB, 200 files per restore, unlimited shared albums, and ownership transfers. Pro costs $11.99 per month or $122 per year for 3 TB, 500 files per restore, unlimited shared albums, and ownership transfers. The paid tiers suit libraries that need more capacity or shared-album administration, while the annual options provide a lower listed cost than paying monthly for twelve months.
The standout capability is the combination of controlled sharing and long-term retention. Temporary links can use one-time passwords and access controls, optional face-recognition grouping requires consent, and ownership transfers support shared client albums. Recent photos use instant-access storage, while older items can move to cold archive storage; retrieval may take multiple hours, so it is better suited to preservation than urgent access. Choose Preserve Forever for original-quality family libraries, private sharing, and archival workflows. Users needing immediate access to every archived file, a desktop application, or broader integration options should consider another service.
