Our verdict on Prequel
Prequel is a mobile photo and video editing app for people creating social-media content. It brings together filters, visual effects, presets, video templates, text, stickers, music, beauty adjustments, background replacement, and AI-powered editing. Its audience is creators who want to style photos and short videos on a phone, especially when a single app needs to cover both visual polish and social-ready presentation.
The freemium structure gives users a free basic version, while optional Prequel Gold subscriptions add access to more editing tools and effects. Prequel Gold Weekly includes unlimited filters, effects, and tools alongside AI credits. Prequel Gold Yearly provides all-access filters and effects for photo and video. The app also offers a three-day free trial. The published pricing structure is subscription-based, with the available offer varying by country, location, payment history, and promotional eligibility, so the most suitable plan depends on how often the app is used and whether unlimited access or broader photo-and-video effects matter more.
Its standout strength is breadth within a mobile creative workflow. Users can adjust color, light, blur, HDR, and sharpening; apply face and body beauty tools; add text, stickers, and texture overlays; replace backgrounds; and batch-edit up to 10 photos. Video templates include intros, outros, and music, extending the app beyond still-image editing. That range suits stylized content production, but the mobile-only scope remains a practical boundary. Creators who need a desktop editor or a more comprehensive photo-editing workflow should choose an alternative, while mobile-first social creators will find Prequel better aligned with their needs.
