Our verdict on Posthawk
Posthawk is an email infrastructure platform for developers and growing teams that need programmable transactional or marketing email delivery. It combines a REST API, SMTP relay on port 587, a web dashboard, TypeScript and Python SDKs, and Docker Compose self-hosting. The platform also supports scheduled delivery, inbound email processing, reusable HTML and React Email templates, domain configuration, and event tracking. Teams can choose the managed cloud service or deploy the self-hosted edition on their own infrastructure.
Pricing is structured around three monthly plans. Free includes 3,000 emails per month, 100 emails per day, one domain, three templates, one webhook endpoint, and community support. Pro costs $20 per month and raises capacity to 50,000 emails per month with unlimited daily sending, 10 domains, 10 templates, five webhook endpoints, and priority support. Scale costs $49 per month and includes 100,000 emails per month, 100 domains, unlimited templates, unlimited webhooks, audit logs, and a dedicated Slack channel. Annual billing is not offered, while the self-hosted edition is free apart from upstream sending costs; an optional self-hosted support plan is available separately.
Posthawk’s strongest fit is for engineering-led teams that want control over deployment and delivery workflows. Its integrations include AWS SES, Supabase, Docker, Redis, React Email, Stripe, and Cloudflare, while SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and MAIL FROM configuration support domain authentication. Bounce, complaint, suppression, open, and click tracking add operational visibility, and inbound parsing extends the platform beyond outbound delivery. Teams seeking a mature provider with a longer operating history should weigh its 2025 founding year; teams that value self-hosting, programmable delivery, and moderate-volume plans should find the product more suitable.
