Our verdict on Photon
Photon is a reverse image search application for individuals, organizations, and teams that need more than basic visual similarity. Its DejaVuAI algorithm supports one-to-many, many-to-one, and many-to-many matching, with searches across vendor-maintained known websites or user-controlled image databases. The product is especially suited to portfolios, large image libraries, altered or reused content, and imagery from specialized sensors.
Photon’s main strength is matching depth. The published feature set covers cropping, rotation, recoloring, distortion, scale, and rotation identification through image registration. It also supports JPG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, RAW, HDRI, video, and floating-point image types, along with cross-imager matching for LIDAR, radar, terahertz, infrared, and thermal imagery. CPU-based processing is available without requiring a GPU or tensor cores. Integrations include marketplaces and image-focused sites such as Alibaba.com, Etsy.com, Pinterest, Redbubble, and Wayfair, giving the web-search workflow several defined destinations.
Deployment and pricing divide Photon into distinct use cases. Photon Online provides standard-quality searching for individual users and searches vendor-listed known sites. Photon Personal Edition offers on-device software with a personal perpetual option and a personal subscription option. Photon Enterprise Server adds an enterprise subscription option, large image-library support, and on-premises deployment.
