Our verdict on Photo Vault by Mightys

Photo Vault by Mightys is an iPhone and iPad app for keeping sensitive photos and videos separate from the standard photo library. It stores imported media in an isolated vault protected by Face ID, Touch ID, or a PIN fallback, with AES-256 encryption applied to imported photos and videos. Album organization, media import and export, and a private in-app camera cover the core collection workflow. The app is suited to people who want private personal media stored locally rather than synchronized through an online account.

Pricing is straightforward: Photo Vault is free, with no subscription. The offering includes the full set of listed privacy features, including biometric authentication, PIN access, a decoy vault opened with an alternate PIN, break-in detection with front-camera capture and timestamp logging, alternate disguise app icons, and on-device storage. That makes the product a focused option for users who want local vaulting without a recurring payment or cloud account. Its free model is especially relevant for personal use where local storage is the primary requirement.

The main trade-off is the deliberate local-only design. Without cloud synchronization, the vault does not provide the convenience of cloud-based access or backup, and its iOS-only availability narrows platform flexibility. On the other hand, keeping media on the device supports an offline workflow and avoids moving the vault into a cloud service. Choose Photo Vault by Mightys if you use an iPhone or iPad and prioritize encrypted, discreet, on-device storage with decoy and intruder-detection features. Choose an alternative if you need cloud backup, broader mobile platform coverage, or synchronized access across devices.
