Our verdict on Photo Vault by MagicMoon
Photo Vault by MagicMoon is a consumer privacy app for iPhone and iPad. It stores selected photos, videos, albums, and contacts behind a dedicated passcode, with Face ID and Touch ID access. The free plan includes a private photo and video vault, private contacts, and biometric or passcode protection. It is aimed at iOS users who want to keep personal media and contact information in a separate private space.
Its strongest area is layered privacy functionality rather than simple photo hiding. A decoy vault provides a separate passcode, while break-in alerts can log attempted codes and optionally capture an intruder photo. The app also includes a private camera, a private browser that clears browsing history on exit, recently deleted recovery, and editing tools for crop, filters, blur, mosaic, text, and stickers. That combination makes it suitable for users who want privacy controls alongside everyday media handling and editing.
The main trade-off is platform and pricing scope. Photo Vault is available on iOS, and the published plans show a free tier alongside Init Secret Album PRO monthly and yearly subscriptions. The listed starting price is 3.99, making its paid entry point higher than several alternatives. Users who want decoy access, intruder logging, private contacts, and built-in editing may find the broader feature set compelling. Those seeking Android support, a free-only experience, or a lower paid starting price should consider another vault app instead.
