Our verdict on Photo Restore – Fix Old Photos
Photo Restore – Fix Old Photos is an AI image restoration app for iOS and macOS. It is designed for people restoring family memories, vintage photographs, and other personal images. Its feature set covers several common restoration needs: blur removal, detail sharpening, colorization of black-and-white photos, and repair of scratches, tears, creases, and other damage. One-tap processing keeps the workflow focused, while a before-and-after comparison slider helps users review the result before saving it to the photo library. The app also includes AI professional headshots, extending it beyond historical photo repair.
The freemium plan structure makes the app accessible for occasional restoration. Free users receive 3 photo credits daily and access to all AI enhancement features. Weekly Pro raises the allowance to 50 photo credits per week, removes ads, adds HD-quality results, and includes a 3-day free trial. Yearly Pro provides 60 photo credits per week, 3,120 credits per year, no ads, and HD-quality results. The credit system suits light or recurring personal projects, but users restoring a large collection should account for the plan limits. The app is available through the Apple App Store, with Replicate API and Google AdMob listed among its integrations.
Photo Restore is a good fit for new iOS or macOS users who want a straightforward tool for individual images and value quick processing, visual comparison, and photo-library export. Its narrow focus is useful when the priority is repairing or enhancing personal photographs rather than managing a larger restoration workflow. It is less suitable for users who need batch processing or broader platform coverage. Founded in 2025, the product has a relatively recent history, so buyers seeking a longer-established restoration product may prefer to compare alternatives before committing to a paid plan.
