Our verdict on PECompact
PECompact is a Windows executable compressor and packer for software developers and publishers working with native Portable Executable modules. It targets workflows that need to reduce the size of EXE, DLL, SCR, OCX, and other native PE files while retaining control over compression codecs, resources, loaders, and plugins. GUI and console-mode applications are supported, making it suitable for both interactive packaging and command-line processes. The product also includes code-integrity checking with CRC32 support, DEP and code-signing compatibility, and PESuite utilities for executable manipulation.
Pricing uses perpetual, one-time licenses. The One Product plan costs $429 and covers one publicly distributed application, with any number of distinct modules allowed. Three Products costs $689 for up to three publicly distributed applications. Unlimited Products costs $1,498 for unlimited applications by the same developer. The main difference between tiers is the number of applications covered, rather than a separate feature set. This structure fits developers or publishers that distribute multiple products and want a license that scales by application count.
Its strongest technical focus is PE-specific packaging rather than broad, cross-platform binary distribution. CODEC plugins, loader and API hook plugins, overlay emulation for installers and SFX executables, configurable compression settings, and resource handling give professional users several control points. Basic anti-debugging or other protection capabilities can be added through loader options. However, PECompact supports Windows and 32-bit architecture only; PE64 modules are unsupported. Choose it when native 32-bit PE compression and related manipulation features are central to the workflow. Teams packaging 64-bit PE modules or seeking a multi-platform executable tool should choose an alternative.
