Our verdict on PayDay
PayDay is a New Zealand money-management app for people who want incoming pay divided automatically across connected accounts. It detects pay and applies user-defined percentage or fixed-amount split rules, which can support bills, savings, spending, variable income, or multiple bank accounts. The product also includes card round-up savings, a unified account dashboard, transfer history, notifications, and the Payy in-app AI assistant. PayDay is currently pre-launch and available through a waitlist, with a free plan while the product is being built.
The Free plan costs $0 and includes bank linking through Akahu, automatic pay detection, custom percentage or fixed-amount split rules, a unified dashboard, Payy, and email and in-app alerts. The published feature set also includes automatic transfers when pay is detected, multi-bank connections, round-ups, and optional two-factor authentication. Pro pricing has not yet been set, so the current offering is straightforward for users who want the available functionality without a subscription decision.
Its main strength is ecosystem fit for New Zealand banking. Akahu connections cover ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Westpac, Kiwibank, TSB, Rabobank, and The Co-operative Bank, allowing users to bring multiple accounts into one workflow. The trade-off is platform scope: PayDay is web-only, and access is currently through a waitlist. Choose it if paycheck-triggered automation, custom split rules, and New Zealand bank connections match your needs. Consider an alternative if you need a mobile app or a product that is already generally available.
