Our verdict on Passolo
Passolo is RWS software localization software for teams translating graphical user interfaces, including menus, dialog boxes and display text. Its WYSIWYG editing keeps interface elements visible in context, while project tools accommodate translators, reviewers and engineers. That makes it a fit for Windows teams working on interface localization rather than teams looking for a platform-neutral, standalone cloud application.
Its distinguishing depth is the combination of visual editing and localization QA. Teams can edit bitmap assets such as icons and cursors, and selectable checks cover text length and pixel width; terminology and translation consistency checks add another review layer. Translation memory and glossary support help maintain reuse and terminology across work. These capabilities suit interface projects where space constraints and visual assets matter alongside translated strings, although they are more specialized than a general-purpose content translation workflow.
Passolo also supports recurring work through command-line automation and build-server integration. Collaboration edition can synchronize translation packages through FTP/SFTP or Box, and the product integrates with Trados Studio, MultiTerm, Trados Team, Trados Accelerate, Trados Enterprise and Trados GroupShare.
