  • Where it wins

    • Query logs and telemetry with SQL or PromQL, then build dashboards.
    • Live tailing, structured parsing, and threshold or anomaly alerts.
    • OSS or Cloud options; Cloud lists 365 days of retention.
  • Where it doesn't

    • Cloud charges $0.39 per GB ingested, so cost varies with volume.
    • Enterprise-only features include audit logging and multi-tenant clusters.
    • The OSS plan leaves retention and object storage to custom configuration.

Our verdict on Parseable

Parseable is an open-source observability platform for engineering and operations teams handling logs, metrics, traces, and events. It ingests telemetry through HTTP, OpenTelemetry, and agents, then supports SQL or PromQL queries, dashboards, alerts, live log tailing, and parsing. With both self-hosted software and a managed Cloud service, it suits teams that want to query logs directly and choose where to run the system; it is less suited to buyers looking for a fixed-price cloud subscription.

Its query and ingestion ecosystem is a notable fit for existing telemetry pipelines. Integrations include Grafana, Fluent Bit, Fluentd, Vector, Logstash, OpenTelemetry Collector, Kubernetes, Docker, Apache Kafka, Redpanda, Slack, PagerDuty, and Vercel. Log IQ parsing addresses unstructured formats, while dataset-level retention policies, role-based access control, and OIDC SSO support operational management. Live tailing and threshold alerts help teams inspect incoming logs and respond to defined conditions; anomaly detection is also listed for Cloud.

The OSS plan costs $0 and includes SQL queries and dashboards, threshold alerts, OIDC SSO, and customizable retention and object storage under an AGPLv3 license. Cloud is usage-based at $0.39 per GB ingested, lists 365 days of retention, AI-native analysis, anomaly detection, unlimited users, dashboards, alerts, API access, and a 14-day free trial. Enterprise adds dedicated SLA support, self-hosted, private-cloud, or hybrid deployment, custom partitioning, multi-tenant clusters, audit logging, and data residency and sovereignty options. Choose OSS for self-managed SQL logs and configurable retention, or Cloud when its listed retention and managed service fit. Teams needing Enterprise controls should assess that tier; teams requiring a fixed monthly Cloud fee may prefer another pricing model.
