Parcel is an open-source build tool for web applications and libraries. It is designed for teams that want to work across JavaScript, TypeScript, JSX, CSS, HTML, images, and other asset types without starting with a configuration file. Its scope covers development and production workflows, including a development server, diagnostics, target-based transpilation, library builds, source-map processing, and a programmatic build API. For projects where quick setup and broad asset handling matter, Parcel is a direct fit.
The development workflow is a notable strength. Parcel includes a built-in server with HTTPS support and an API proxy, plus hot reloading with React Fast Refresh and Vue hot reloading support.
